Waste disposal

Site plan with locations for waste disposal (Annex 1)

Ship waste is collected on board the respective ships and disposed of in the collection facilities provided.

There is a disposal station in the island harbour for pumping out waste water from pleasure craft. This wastewater is treated in a small sewage treatment plant located in the harbour operations building. The excess sludge produced in the process is removed by a vacuum truck to the public wastewater disposal company during regular maintenance and disposed of there.

As no boat building services are offered in the island harbour, there is no associated waste such as used oil, batteries or other hazardous waste. It is therefore not accepted and disposed of.

All shortcomings in the collection and disposal of ship waste must be reported to the harbour operator or the harbour authority. This also applies to anomalies regarding improper disposal when using the buildings or the pier.

informally by email

As the passenger ship jetty is merely a port of call from which day trips to various destinations on the Baltic Sea coast are offered, no separate collection facilities are provided for waste arising in this regard. The waste is disposed of properly at the respective home port of the passenger ship.

Crane

A column-mounted slewing crane is available in the harbour. Use is only possible after notification and approval by the harbour operator. Except in emergencies, notification must be made at least 3 days in advance. Use is subject to a charge and may only be carried out by instructed personnel of the harbour operator.
